word of the day

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Improve your english vocabulary and subscribe to the word-of-the-day-newsletter on dictionary.com. Thanks to this wonderful tool i already learned what for example foofaraw, hinterland, uxorious, eddy (yes, really! truly not joking!) and equanimity mean and in which context i should use these linguistic delights.

I also subscribed to the spanish-word-of-the-day-newsletter which explains the meaning of a spanish word in english. Quite an exercise for a flemish-speaker!
I’m not sure though these spanish words apply to the mexican language, cause i’ve noticed the mexicans just make words up. And therefore so do i, and that seems to be working just fine.

Moving means going through everything you own, and currently i’m rediscovering my music collection. I remember i listened to Amos Lee’s debut over and over again for weeks after i bought it, but i never enjoyed the album as much as i did today. After being enchanted by Amos’ music again i ran for the iTunes music store (didn’t have to go far) cause i figured there might be a second album by now. Which there is and i’m listening to right now.

Stop by Amos’ website for a listen and learn more about him on the blue note website.

This is a wonderful website. You just enter an artist or song you like, and the application compiles and plays a list of songs/artists you might like. Consider it your personal radio channel without useless chit chat inbetween …

Thank you Stijn for the tip!

Finally bought the album, and no regrets at all! On the contrary, this is one you can listen to whole day.

John Mayer - CONTINUUM -

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

A recently discovered treasure. The first song i heard was ‘waiting on the world to change’. I liked it from the start: lovely tune, nice voice, good content.

I’ve put an mp3 on my website if you want to have a listen.

The music video of this song is also very good. Very simple, not quite original, but the photography is beautiful. It doesn’t always have to be as cool and hip as possible. I like it this way, you’re just watching nice images, that eases your mind.

The full album is named ‘CONTINUUM’. Also with a simple, though very good looking design which suits the music.
