A lot of stockphotography websites give away free images if you’re a regular buyer or a member. Mostly the quality of these free-images-of-the-week isn’t that great at all. Trivial subjects, flat colours, little dept, … but i always download them anyway. With a little imagination, some curve and level adjustments, they just might come in handy one day. I’ve already used a lot of these pictures in designs with short deadlines or low budget.

I can’t seem to get back on track. So here’s another picture taken by my brother Bram to keep this blog going …

I’m back … and it was a lovely trip, although it began with bad luck.
The night i left for my trip, i took a bus from Tampico to Zacatecas. An 8-hour drive through the night. I put my bags on the bus and recieved a ticket with a number, which was also applied to my bag. Even though normally nobody can take a bag out of the bus without the matching number, my bag was gone the next morning when i arrived at Zacatecas. Must’ve happened during the night, at one of the 2 stops in other cities. Loosing some clothes and a pair of shoes isn’t something to be really sad about, but loosing all of your photographic equipment, THAT’s a big issue for me! A Nikon D70 body, a Nikon FA body and 3 lenses … all gone!
The bus company didn’t seem to care about it all that much. This usually never happens they said. Well, in that case i don’t understand why they don’t pay a bit more a attention to those very few cases that do occur. They didn’t even ask for my phone number or a way to contact me in case they would have more information! So … i spend the first 3 days of my vacation calling around myself to find out what might’ve happened with my bag.
After 2 days of absolutely no co-operation i went to the juridical department of the tourists office (the owner of the hotel where i was staying told me to do so). And i must say these people acted immediately. They send over a lawyer to the chief of the bus department in Zacatecas to speed things up a little. This lawyer also advised me to press charges so she could put a little more pressure on the bus company with official documents. So, that’s what i did. I spend a whole afternoon with a detective for my statement (all in spanish! :-) and now i can’t do more than wait …
I doubt that i’ll ever see my bag again, so now it’s just about a proper compensation for my loss. Hopefully that’ll be enough to buy myself a new digital and analogue camara. I doubt it though …
No big news today, just some funny – little scary maybe – pictures of fish taken by my brother …

It appears to be someone at playboy was a little too diligently fine-tuning irregularities on this model. If a belly button is considered an irregularity, i must say he did a great job ;-).
I know, this probably isn’t big news, but i wanted to post it anyway. I’m working with photoshop on a daily basis, so i can imagine making a mistake like this. After a couple of hours correcting images, you just don’t see it anymore.
Very strange though, that no one else noticed this before the magazine hit the press …
