Do you guys ever submit ratings to your music in iTunes? If so, i’d like to know how you manage to keep those under control. Browsing through my music library i’ve noticed there is no consistency in mine whatsoever. I’d be happy to hear what your parameters are for undeviated rating.
One of the many things “Getting In Touch Again With Old Friends” can be good for.
I saw Arvid - old friend - post this video - turn it up! - and fell immediately in love with AaRON … Thanks Arvid - dear old friend!
“U-turn (Lili)” is part of the soundtrack of “Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas“.

The belgians amongst you probably already knew … but i’m pleasantly surprised that Bobbejaan Schoepen released a new album! I haven’t heard it yet, but i can already say i really like the sleeve design! The belgian press is referring to Johnny Cash a lot. Again, i don’t know about the music, but i get the idea just looking at the photo. I’ll go listen right now!

For those of you who don’t know who Bobbejaan Schoepen is, there is an ample description on wikipedia. I am sure his name leaves at least a hint of nostalgia with all belgians … If not for his music, then definitely for his theme park Bobbejaanland.

This 23-year old Welsh beauty really has got it going on! Soul that is …

Qué linda manito que tengo yo,
qué linda y blanquita que Dios me dio.
Qué lindos ojitos que tengo yo,
qué lindos y negritos que Dios me dio.
Qué linda boquita que tengo yo,
qué linda y rojita que Dios me dio.
Qué lindas paticas que tengo yo,
qué lindas y gorditas que Dios me dio.
There are so many artists who look like they are giving birth when they’re singing or making music live.
Something like this is what i mean:

It looks like they have to try really really hard to make it any good. Which is a bit of a shame, because if you just close your eyes to listen they might sound like the song is actually rolling out of their mouths without them even making an effort, almost like breathing. Too bad they can’t do it with a smile on their faces. Another way of looking at it is that they put a lot of themselves into the performance, which can only be a good thing.
I have searched for some ‘happy’ singers and i must say they are hard to find. I once saw an interview with Ayo on french television though. She lightened up the show with an improvisation session in which she was incredibly charming. She just smiled all the way through. I wish i could share it with you but apparently the video was deleted from YouTube due to some claim. You can catch another glimpse of her lovely smile here.
Not doing so bad either: Yael Naim, Corinne Bailey Ray, Jack Johnson (although he moves a little funny, like he should’ve used the bathroom first before he entered the stage), Duffy (here with short interview), Jorge Drexler, …
We shouldn’t judge them though, the ones with the tortured faces! I don’t think we want them to change one bit. It is what actually comes out of their mouths that counts … and in John Mayer’s case (the one in the picture), it sounds very VERY good (and by the way, the man can look great also).
And who am i to judge anyway? I’m just a jealous girl … wishing i could sing or write songs like they do, with or without the strange facial expressions.
If you feel like sharing some of the worst or best facial expressions you have ever seen on stage … go ahead!
I hardly ever put my complete iTunes library on shuffle. But i just found out i should do that more often. The (lost) treasures you find … !
Sometimes you want a certain album to never end …
(give it a listen with qualitative headphones on so you’ll get all the details)
